Elan names Paya new President

Elan Corp plc, the Dublin-based drug company, has appointed Carlos V Paya as President, effective November 25.

Joining Elan from Eli Lilly & Company, Paya will be responsible for the firm’s medical, scientific and clinical initiatives. He will also assume responsibility for Elan’s commercial and marketing functions, while bringing additional executive management perspective to strategic assessments.

At Eli Lilly Paya held the position of Vice President of Lilly research laboratories and global leader of the diabetes and endocrine platform.

Kelly Martin, CEO of Elan, said that the company’s hiring of Paya reflects the firm’s priorities – advancing its clinical portfolio and scientific opportunities.
